Ghana Union Stuttgart e.V. - GUS - was officially registered (VR 7178, Court Stuttgart) in November 2004 as a non-profit social and cultural organization of all Ghanaians in Stuttgart. Prior to the formal
registration, the
Union had existed in several different forms for many years but the aims and purposes remained the
same.
The idea to form Ghana Union again in Stuttgart was brought by Mr. Adu
Gyamfi, Mr. Ansah Peprah, Mrs. Mabel Lang, Mr. Agyeman Badu and Mr. Kwaku
Appiah. After a series of live discussions on Radio Ghana in Stuttgart, they
were able to convince our brothers and sisters to form a union Stuttgart.
As a non-political mutual aid
organization, the objectives of the association include but are not limited to:
-
Bringing together and promoting cordial relations between all Ghanaians in Stuttgart and between Ghanaians and other
groups;
-
Promoting and Sustaining our cultural interests and general welfare by representing the Ghanaian Community in relations with public officials in Stuttgart, Germany and Ghana.
As a social organization aimed at strengthening the Ghanaian
Community, we share occasions of joy, such as births and marriages, and stressful situations such as
deaths, illnesses and accidents through visits and get-togethers.
As a growing community with expanding
needs, the union seeks to assist both members and all Ghanaians in Stuttgart area with immigration and educational
problems. The Union has become a major resource for information about
Ghana, the Ghanaian and African Communities.
